Shop 52-2: Con Amore

by Travelingmama on July 19, 2010

Whoever said that you cannot judge a book by it’s cover obviously had never been to this shop: Con Amore.  The window was dressed as though it was going on it’s very first date!  So many cute things called my name that I just had to pop in and see more!

A rainbow of colors greeted me as soon as I entered… I was like a kid in a candy shop!

And that vintage inspired clock on the right?  I want it!  I could totally imagine putting that in my studio space.  It would say to me, “good morning, gorgeous!  My you have such fantastic taste in clocks!”  And I would, of course, have to agree because I don’t think it is very polite to disagree.

Oh!  And you are never going to guess what else they had!  Well, maybe you can from the photo above?  Yes!  The very same Matryoshka measuring cups that I bought at Urban Outfitters… except these are here and you won’t believe this, but they are actually the same price!  (Which I know does not do me much good, but for all my Danish friends it is very good news!)

While I loved all the fun little things Con Amore had to offer, what really sold me on this shop was the owner, Lene.  She was so sweet and genuine.  She told me about her first shop which had been down the street.  It had been loaded with 50’s and 60’s furniture and I felt my heart start racing with excitement… until she told me that it was no longer open.  That was very sad news, indeed.

But Lene went on to share how she went from that shop to opening Con Amore and how she had decided that the shop, much like it’s name, must be filled with things that she loved… things she would love to have in her own home.

How great is that, right?  I mean, shouldn’t we all have such conviction in what we do?  It really did make me love Con Amore that much more and I am certain that it is a shop I will frequent in the coming days!

Well, the window is not QUITE dressed like it’s going on it’s very first date – unless they don’t wear pants over there! :-) hee hee!

What a fun store! It looks similar to Claires, but even more fun an wacky stuff. By the time you are done, I will know all the cool places to shop in Denmark. Hey, when are you guys going to take the children to Trivoli. I think it is a must before the end of summer. When we went it was unfortunately closed for the season, but it looked so dreamy and I totally loved the old fashioned feel to this amusement park.
